Funderfinder and GrantFinder

Funderfinder GIN (for Groups in Need) and GrantFinder are computer software programmes that helps charities and voluntary organisations identify which charitable trusts might support their work.

What information do you have to put in to the computer?

The computer programme will need to be told:
  • what kind of a group you are
  • what sort of money you’re looking for (e.g. running costs, project, building work)
  • how much money you’re trying to raise
  • what type of work you engage in
  • details of the beneficiaries of your project

What happens when you've entered all the information?

The programmes search through all the funder profiles in its dataset and comes up with a list of charitable trusts that you should consider. It can put your list in ‘best match’ order, with the best bets at the top. You choose the ones you want to print.

What's on the printout?

The printout has names of those funders you’ve selected and where to find further information.

So there's still more work to do at the end?

Yes, These programmes help you identify funders. You’ve still got to do more research about those funders and decide if they really are for you and if so write a good application.

How long does a search take?

It depends on how complicated your search is and whether you want to try different options. If you’re new to these programmes you should probably allow an hour from start to printout.

How can I access Funderfinder or GrantFinder?

These programmes are free for LVAC’s members. If you would like to use them, simply give us a call on 020 7737 1419 and book an appointment. (Please note: you will probably want to give yourself at least an hour to do your research.)

Other information

GrantFinder also provides a guide to budgeting, and useful information sheets on funding resources and fundraising for yourself through local activities.
